Whether you choose to prep this as a jar meal or go straight from can to pot, you're gonna love this creamy, meaty side dish! Recipe amounts are for a quart jar but you can make it in a pint jar by halving the ingredients. (slightly adapted from a recipe out of The Meals in a Jar Handbook)

Directions:

  1. If preparing as a jar meal, layer ingredients in order listed in a clean quart jar. For long-term storage, seal with vacuum sealer.
  2. When ready to use, boil 4 cups of water in a large saucepan on the stove. Dump jar contents (or dump ingredients from cans if not using jar method) into boiling water.
  3. Bring back to a boil and lower heat to simmer the mixture for 13-15 minutes, stirring frequently.
  4. Remove from heat and allow to sit for about 5 minutes before serving.
